My name is Lesslie Bull, and I am the lead instructor for NURS 4305- Maternal and Newborn Nursing Care.
I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2010 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and began my career as a pediatric ER nurse at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. I then moved to women’s health at a small, rural hospital in Clinton, Oklahoma where I practiced L&D, postpartum, and antepartum care. I later went back to school and obtained my Master’s of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and graduated in 2018. I practiced as an APRN in women’s health here in Stephenville for four years, and continue to participate as a sub-investigator for a local research group, Javara Research, which conducts nation-wide research trials on various new drugs and vaccines. I am currently working on my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree through Arkansas State University, and plan to graduate in October 2025.
Outside of nursing, I have been married to my husband, Wes, for 14 years, and we have four children, ages 4, 7, 9, and 11. We enjoy camping and running our kids around to all of their after-school sports and activities. I am also an avid reader and a long distance runner.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you, and am excited to be a part of your educational journey.
Mrs. Bull
I believe interaction and engagement are both key to successful teaching and learning, therefore, my philosophy of teaching stems from a need to make the experience interactive and fun, regardless of venue or setting. I strive to incorporate humor in my teaching because I believe that everyone learns more effectively when they are having fun and enjoying the content. Putting the learner at ease allows them to engage more fully with the material and stretch their knowledge of the subject. Finally, I believe that personal enthusiasm for the content matter as well as the success of the learners creates a successful learning experience. Women’s Health is my passion, and whether the students are particularly interested in this niche or not, I will do everything I can to foster learning and help them succeed in not only this class, but their future career as a nurse.
