Prospective research students
I welcome motivated undergraduate and graduate students interested in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, reinforcement learning, and intelligent power systems. Students with experience in Python, machine learning, optimization, or power-system simulation are especially encouraged to reach out.
Research opportunities
Undergraduate projects, graduate thesis topics, and interdisciplinary collaborations are possible in areas such as:
- Graph-based intrusion detection for power systems
- AI-assisted smart-grid stability assessment
- Trustworthy machine learning
- Safe reinforcement learning for grid control
- Security of critical energy infrastructure and data centers
See the Research page for current directions.
Useful background
- Python and PyTorch
- Machine learning and reinforcement learning
- Cybersecurity fundamentals
- Power-system simulation
How to get involved
To express interest, please email mmassaoudi@tarleton.edu with:
- Your CV
- A transcript, where appropriate
- A brief description of your technical background and research interests
Research participation and financial support depend on project availability.
Collaborations
I welcome collaborations with academic and industry partners working on AI, cybersecurity, smart grids and intelligent energy systems.
