Hello. I am an experienced nursing professional with a career spanning close to three decades, specializing in cardiac and critical care. After earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from Angelo State University in May of 1996, I began working in various nursing units across smaller hospitals, including med-surg, telemetry, orthopedics, and the emergency department.
In 2003, I joined the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth where I stayed until mid 2020. This is where a passion for cardiac and critical care nursing was ignited. A quest for expanded knowledge led me to return to school to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through the University of Texas at Arlington in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Clinical Nurse Leadership at Texas Christian University in 2017. I worked in cardiac progressive care as the Clinical Nurse Leader at Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth for 5 years as well staff nurse in the dedicated COVID ICU.
Transitioning to a slower pace of life and more enjoyable, rural experience, we moved our family back home to the greater Stephenville area (I graduated from Stephenville HS and my husband grew up in DeLeon). I took a position in Cardiopulmonary Rehab and the Heart Failure outreach program at Hamilton General Hospital, which is quite the robust rural health system. In Fall 2022, I discovered a passion for teaching as a clinical adjunct at Tarleton State University, where I soon became full time faculty. I love nursing, I love Tarleton, and I love college students!
