PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

Interim Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Student Academic Success & Achievement July 2022 to December 2022, Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas

  • Supervised Deans of Honors College, University College, and Leadership & Military College by championing initiatives that supported progress towards strategic goals with student success, retention, and enrollment growth in mind.
  • Managed and responded to all student complaints and appeals which arrived in the Office of the Provost including grade appeals, complaints regarding faculty treatment of students, and accessing resources to encourage student success.
  • Served as Tarleton State University Team Lead for Cohort 2 of AASCU’s Student Success and Equity Initiative by leading a working team of employees in gathering data, reviewing processes, and making recommended changes/improvements to remove barriers for students.
  • Served as coordinator (interim status due to staff resignation) for Tarleton State University’s collaboration with the University of Texas OnRamps Program by conducting independent school district visits, working with principals, superintendents and school board members to access affordable higher education via dual enrollment at Tarleton, and attending Open House sessions to recruit students to current eligible courses.
  • Served as principal investigator (interim status due to staff resignation) of the Greater Texas Foundation Grant whereby Tarleton was staffing additional peer mentors and academic coaches to increase student success and retention.
  • Reviewed and approved/denied requests from the Office of the Registrar for student waivers within degree plan requirements.
  • Assisted the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs with items from Deans’ Council, Academic Council, research on best practices and additional information as needed.

  • Cast a strategic vision for incorporating holistic support services for Tarleton State University students on all campuses.
  • Responsible for the Division of Student Affairs which encompassed Residence Life, TexConnect, Student Food Pantry, Zimmerman Office of Student Involvement & Family Relations, Student Health Services, Student Counseling Center, Student Media, Campus Recreation, Academic Support Initiatives, Center for Leadership, Service & Outreach, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Rodeo, University Police, Dean of Students, and Community Involvement & Outreach
  • Served as a member of the President’s Executive Cabinet to guide institutional strategic plan, priorities and implementation, assist with student recruitment and retention, and overall advancement of the institution.
  • Lead Division of Student Affairs personnel by providing vision and guidance to a team of professionals charged with directing departmental operations and staff focused on supporting students through services, programming, and divisional strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Represented the Division of Student Affairs and Tarleton State University through committee work, public speaking, community engagement, and attendance at universitywide functions, local community programs, TAMUS & statewide meetings, and national conferences.
  • Engaged with Texas A&M University System Board of Regents through Board Meetings, chief student affairs officers’ statewide meetings, and TAMUS Student Affairs Chief Officer meetings.
  • Advanced Tarleton State University’s accreditation efforts for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges as an executive team member for ongoing accreditation initiatives that involve continuous improvement, assessment, and student success.

Dean, College of Liberal and Fine Arts: April 2013 – December 2018, Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas

  • Served as Interim Dean, College of Liberal and Fine Arts (September 2011 – April 2013).
  • Provided leadership and representation for the College of Liberal and Fine Arts for matters involving budgets, planning, assessment, faculty development, program development, space utilization monitoring, resource acquisition, and management of the college as a cohesive unit.
  • Recruited and retained effective, talented, qualified, diverse faculty body.
  • Fostered student success in the many programs within the college.
  • Assessed academic programs and administrative units.
  • Participated in R.E.A.L. initiatives within the University focusing on Study Abroad/Study Away programs and internship opportunities for students

  • Inaugural Executive Director of Compliance, Evaluation, and Institutional Reporting
  • Responsible for SACSCOC Self Study and all compliance reporting for accreditation.
  • Corresponded with SACSCOC for all substantive changes and additional reporting
    requirements.
  • Monitored faculty credentials and worked with SACS personnel on any questions
    or additional needed information.
  • Worked with Texas A&M University System Office of General Counsel for legal
    issues dealing with varied subjects.
  • Handled all open records requests for the University and counseled with OGC on responses needing Texas Office of Attorney General opinions.

  • Advocated and obtained resources to support the three programs within the department.
  • Provided coordination and leadership for accreditation efforts within Social Work Program.
  • Conducted annual budget hearings with faculty, program directors, Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, and with the Provost.
  • Supported faculty development, assisted with tenure and promotion packet materials by offering advice prior to annual review, and worked to create a positive atmosphere within the department.
