To provide students with a thorough understanding of plant nutrition, soil fertility, and nutrient management so that they can (1) describe the influence of soil biological, physical, and chemical properties and interactions on nutrient availability to crops; (2) identify plant nutrition/soil fertility problems and recommend corrective action; and (3) identify soil and nutrient management practices that maximize productivity and profitability while maintaining or enhancing the productive capacity of the soil and quality of the environment.
