Link to PowerPoint presentation “Graphical Solutions of the General Cubic Function.”  We show the steps needed to find the non-real zeros of a cubic polynomial function which has only one real zero.  We use only the graph of the polynomial.  Within the PowerPoint slides are links to GeoGebra files which give examples of graphical solving techniques for quadratic and cubic functions.

ICTCM 2020

This conference was canceled.  A presentation was planned to be given based on the article “Essential Trigonometry Without Geometry” with coauthors Dr. Bryant Wyatt and Dr. Jesse Crawford.  This article is published in the The Texas Journal of Science, Volume 71, Number 1, 2019, Article 10, p. 173-189. The Journal’s article is from a Word document.  Here’s a link to the LaTex-based original .pdf article, including Appendices .

A sequel article “Essential Trigonometry Without Geometry Part II:  Generalizations and Applications” with coauthors Dr. Bryant Wyatt and Dr. Jesse Crawford was published in the The Texas Journal of Science, Volume 72, Number 1, 2020, Article 11, p. 203-217.  In this article we consider a generalization of the sine and cosine functions and the key theorems of trigonometry.  We conclude by showing a connection between the Generalized Pythagorean Theorem and the Law of Conservation of Energy.
